Theres nothing like opening up a door to let in some fresh, clean air. But if you have a storm door screen with a tear or hole, a delightful breeze isn't the only thing that's going to come inside. For this project you will need fiberglass screen, retaining spline, spline roller, scissors, utility knife, tape measure and a screw driver. The type and color of screen can make a difference so take a sample of the old screen to Lowe's to match. Buy enough screen to cover 2 inches over the edges of the frame. To begin, remove the frame. With the spline side up, remove the spline with a screwdriver. When the spline is removed, remove the screen. Roll the new screen on top of the frame. Using scissors trim the screen so about 1-2 inches overlap the frame. Next cut a 45 degree slit on the corners of the screen to prevent tears. Lay the spline on top of the screen and using the spline roller, roll into the grooves. Cut the excess screen with a utility knife. Put the frame back into the storm door, and you're done.
