Learn how to make a terra cotta flower pot display with these step by step instructions from Lowe's Creative Ideas. Find project details here: http://low.es/1ltjtrE The basic supplies are your saucers, a good drill, and some sturdy dowel rod, but make sure you check out the list of materials and instructions at lowes.com/creative-ideas Because you have to drill through the terra cotta, you want to soften it up a little by spraying some water on the top and bottom. Find the bump that marks the center of the saucer, and then using a quarter-inch masonry bit, drill straight down thru the top of each saucer. Now you predrill your dowels. In one of the pieces drill a hole on each end; the second piece gets a hole drilled in just one end. Now you're ready to wrap your dowels with twine, and fair warning: this gets a little sticky! Work in small sections, applying the rubber cement to about two inches of the dowel, then wrapping the twine, applying more glue and then wrapping some more. When you get to the end, tie off the twine and trim the ends. Now you're ready to assemble! Predrill into the center of your scrap wood piece, give it a squirt of glue, and apply this to the bottom of your largest saucer. Add a woodscrew right through the scrap wood, up through the hole in the saucer, then turn the saucer over. Add a rubber washer and a dab of glue and attach the dowel that has both ends pre-drilled. Make sure you don't get too aggressive tightening this down. At the top of the dowel, add some glue, a rubber washer and a dowel screw, then add on the medium saucer. Add a little more glue, another washer, and then screw on the second dowel piece. Add glue to the end of the dowel, and set the smallest saucer on top. Let the whole thing dry for at least a couple of hours, and then you're ready to display your favorite flowers in your terra cotta flower pot display.
